Welcome to NoteGuru. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how your data is handled. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Create

NoteGuru stores the notes, reminders, audio recordings, tags, and categories you create within the app. This data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to our servers.

1.2 Google Account Information

If you choose to enable Google Drive Sync, NoteGuru will request access to your Google account. We only request the following permissions:

• profile – to display your name and profile picture within the app
• email – to identify your account for sync purposes
• drive.appdata – to store your backup file in a private, hidden folder on your Google Drive that only NoteGuru can access

We do not access, read, or modify any other files in your Google Drive.

1.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

• Personal identification information beyond your Google profile
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Device identifiers
• Location data
• Any data for advertising purposes

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the features of NoteGuru:

• Storing and retrieving your notes, reminders, and audio notes locally
• Backing up and restoring your data via Google Drive when you enable sync
• Sending local notifications for reminders you set

We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any third-party purposes.

3. Google Drive Sync

When Google Drive Sync is enabled, NoteGuru creates a backup file named noteguru-backup.json inside your Google Drive's App Data folder. This folder is:

• Private and hidden from your regular Drive view
• Only accessible by NoteGuru
• Automatically deleted if you uninstall the app and revoke access

You can revoke NoteGuru's access to your Google Drive at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions.

4. Data Storage & Security

All your notes and app data are stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage. When synced to Google Drive, the data is transmitted over HTTPS using Google's secure OAuth 2.0 protocol.

We do not operate any servers that store your personal data. Your data belongs to you.

5. Data Retention

Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. If Google Drive Sync is enabled, your backup remains in your Drive's App Data folder until you revoke access or delete it manually via Google Account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

NoteGuru is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

7. Third-Party Services

NoteGuru uses the following third-party service:

• Google Drive API – for optional cloud backup and sync.
  Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not use any other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks.

8. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: All your data is visible within the app at all times
• Delete: Delete individual notes or all data from within the app settings
• Export: Your backup file on Google Drive is a standard JSON file you can download anytime
• Revoke access: Disconnect Google Drive sync at any time from app settings or Google Account

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of NoteGuru after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
